Hamburger Helper Copy Cat

So I've decided to make a copy cat of one of my favorite past times, hamburger helper. My mom used to make it for us all the time growing up because we loved it so much. I honestly haven't had it in years because of all the sodium and such that's in it. So today I got an idea to make my own version. Here it is!

Homemade Hamburger Helper

Ingredients

  • 1 - 1 1/4 pounds of ground beef or turkey
  • 1 box dream fields pasta (any kind)
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups cheese of choice (or more to taste)*
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground mustard
  • 2 Tbsp garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1/2 onion grated

*I personally love velveeta. I know it's not the BEST to use but I feel for something like this you need something that melts easily. I used the 2% milk version.

*All seasonings are to taste. I guessed how much I put because I taste as I go and everyone's taste is different. So just taste as you go, and use as much as you need!

Directions
Brown meat in a decent size pan. When Brian drain most of the grease off, as much as possible. Boil pasta so that it's half way cooked so instead of 10 minutes for dream fields do 5. When pasta is done add it to the pan with the meat. Add all the rest of the ingredients and bring to boil. Turn the temperature to simmer and simmer for 20-30 minutes mixing often. Don't forget to taste throughout. Enjoy!
